Donald W. Furman O.D.


Dr. Donald W. Furman graduated from Cornell College.  He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1992, graduating Magna Cum Laude.  He served in the U.S. Army for three years, ensuring soldiers, their families, and retirees received quality eye care.

Dr. Furman moved back to Iowa in 1995 and joined the Family Eye Care Center.  His passion for cutting-edge optometry has resulted in a level of technology and services rarely found in a rural setting.  His patients travel from around North Iowa for the care and excellence they experience at the Family Eye Care Center.

He lives in rural Hancock County with has wife, Melinda.  His two grown children, Christina and Jonathon also live in the area.  Dr. Furman enjoys spending time with his family, reading, community service, and travel. He is trained sommelier. He recently helped lead a successful effort to renovate and enlarge the Garner Public Library.  He currently serves on the board of directors for the Iowa Optometric Association.  He is also an active member of the American Optometric Association.
