Trichelle Jackson O.D. of the Family Eye Care Centers of Britt, Garner, and Forest City was recently named Young Optometrist of 2020 by the Iowa Optometric Association.
The Iowa Optometric Association Young Optometrist of the Year Award recognizes those ODs in their first decade of practice who show leadership skills while serving their profession, their patients and their community. The Iowa Optometric Association currently has over 500 members, representing 80% of the Doctors of Optometry practicing across Iowa.
Dr. Jackson has a passion for people. This is reflected in her caring and thorough exam style; she takes time to ensure her patients’ questions have been answered and treatment options reviewed specific to their needs and lifestyle. She is a member of the Iowa Optometric Association where she serves as the chair of the Membership Committee, as well as the American Optometric Association. She has been involved with Forest City Rotary, Forest City Chamber of Commerce, Forest City Lions Club, Kids on the Hill at The First Baptist Church of Forest City, and served as Vision Leader for 6th – 8th graders. Dr. Jackson is also a Guest Lecturer for the Physician Assistants at Northwestern College in Orange City.
Trichelle M. Jackson O.D., grew up in Ogden, IA, where her parents, James and Chrys Velky, still live. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central College in Pella, IA and Magna Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Doctor Jackson lives in Forest City with her husband, Adam and two children, Hazel and Judah. When not practicing optometry, she enjoys family walks, church activities, and drinking coffee. She says she has a love for spending time with family and friends, traveling, snow skiing, and anything pink and sparkly!
